I would like to introduce you to The Hatchery:

The Hatchery is about venture collaboration: supporting innovation, entrepreneurship and investment.

Vision: For New York to be recognised as an innovation capital and gateway to the United States for innovative businesses from all over the world.

The role of the Hatchery is to stimulate technology driven and enabled innovation in the areas of technology, energy and social impact. It promotes and supports investment in technology research, development and commercialization. The Hatchery fosters communication among entrepreneurs, startups and investors to bring about solutions and new advances.

Its intention is to advise and work with Governments domestically and internationally to assist them in creating productive environments for startups and entrepreneurs, removing existing barriers to innovation and acceleration. The focus: areas demonstrating clear viability, fundability and business benefit, The Hatchery is a catalyst for today’s emerging technologies becoming tomorrow’s growth sectors.

June 3rd we are running our annual HatchMatch event at Columbia University – http://hatchmatch2010.eventbrite.com

This is an opportunity for early stage startups and entrepreneurs to meet with 40+ early stage startup investors. The idea is for them to talk and meet with investors an learn that the relationship need not be adversarial and that both parties can learn from each other. The best outcome would be that the two see enough in each other to schedule a follow-up meeting where the startup can be pitched and presented to the investor and his/her colleagues.
